Erin Doyle Theodorou, M.Ed., LPC, NCC
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, hold a National Certified Counselor certification, and am a certified New Jersey School Counselor.
I graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s in Political Science-Global Studies and minor in Philosophy. I spent some years employed in the private sector-working in human resources, paralegal services, and risk management before deciding my passion was to help others. I went back to graduate school , working in the Special Education and Counseling department at William Paterson University, where I earned my Master’s degree in Professional Counseling.
My clinical experience includes working with adults and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and behavioral issues. I have worked at The Center for Counseling, in West Orange, as a mental health clinician. I have also done in home counseling working with families with a variety of mental health diagnoses. Most recent I was a therapist in private practice in Oradell, NJ, working with clients to overcome a myriad of mental health disorders including but not limited to anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and adjustment disorders.
I have been trained in crisis intervention and am familiar with family dynamics and how they affect the individuals. I have also continued my education past my Master’s degree, earning 45 additional credits, in psychology and mental health related courses. I work to stay current on the developments of the field to best serve my clients.
I work primarily with individuals experiencing a range of psychological concerns, mood disturbances (such as anxiety and depression), or trouble adjusting to life circumstances. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and from all walks of life. My goal is to understand life as you experience it, and then help you find your way, hopefully coming out on the other side more at peace and content with your life. My passion is to help clients create the life they want. Perhaps you want to work on your self-esteem, relationships, struggling career, the demands of your family life, or the grief and change that comes with a separation, divroce, or any type of loss.
I have been told my therapeutic style is warm and engaging. I was drawn to counseling because I truly believe mental health is just as important as physical health for our overall well-being and vitality. My goal is to provide an inviting space where clients can comfortably and safely explore their issues. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship to ensure clients overcome challenges they are facing and cultivate new skills to help navigate life’s stressors.
